Kehilla offers learning opportunities for everyone, from children and teens to older adults.
We have periodic educational programs for pre-schoolers, such as Pesach for Preschoolers. Our ongoing "Joyfully Jewish" program engages kindergarten children and their grown-ups in hands-on learning two Sundays a month, and is their first experience with our K-6 Kehilla School. Grades 1-6 of Kehilla School meet during the week, with each child attending either Wednesday or Thursday, from 4-6 p.m.
Kehilla's exemplary Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program engages students in very small groups (1-3 students per teacher) to explore their spiritual beliefs, experiment with practicing mitzvoth (commandments), and contemplating their roles in Kehilla, Jewish and human communities.
Beyond Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Kehilla teens have the opportunity to become Madrichim (Leaders) in Kehilla School, assisting experienced teachers in the classroom, and becoming role models for younger students. Teens can also participate in monthly Rosh Chodesh (New Moon) gatherings for girls, Jewish Youth for Community Action, and Midrasha.
Kehilla also offers a wide range of Adult Education Classes. Each year, there are at least four Adult Education classes on topics such as "The Music of Prayer," "Shabbat 101," "The Present Moment Is Divine," and "Preparing an Ethical Will."
In addition, we also offer periodic intergenerational workshops for all ages, such as the "Drumming As Prayer" class with Debbie Fier.
Our popular Group Spiritual Direction program is designed to create a supportive environment for exploring common experiences or themes in a Jewish spiritual context.
