Registration Policy
In order to enroll in Kehilla School, you must be a member in good standing of Kehilla Community Synagogue. You can learn more about Kehilla membership here. Also, please note that in order to Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Kehilla, students must complete both 5th and 6th grades at Kehilla.
Attendance Policy
Presence and participation are essential in building our Kehilla community.
There are 30 class sessions in the year. Each session is 2 hours, with a 10 minute break and a 20 minute assembly. We are a small, intimate school and require little homework. For these reasons, if your child is absent, we notice and it affects the learning.
If your child is going to be late or miss school, please email your teacher and call the Rosh to let her know. If your child misses several classes, we may recommend private tutoring to make up missed material. Prioritize your family’s commitment to Kehilla school when thinking about sports, drama, music lessons, or other activities which may conflict with Kehilla class time.
Three absences (10% of our class time) will merit a conversation with the Rosh and, in 5th and 6th grade, require that the student make up for missed time with private sessions. There is no financial assistance for make-up classes and you will be responsible to pay the teacher privately. Generally these lessons run $50 per hour.
Pick up/Drop off And Parking Policy
for a safe Kehilla School
To help minimize traffic, aggravation, and pollution, we strongly urge you to set up carpools!
Our parking lot is small. There are three spaces near the building that are DEDICATED drop-off and pick-up spaces during school hours.
What this means is:
You MAY pull in, park-- leaving the engine on, let your kids out safely, then exit.
You may NOT use these spaces to park your car and leave it there. This is to help let the children in and out safely in a busy, crowded parking lot. We will be sure to supervise your children walking to the vehicles safely.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU MAY NOT DOUBLE PARK ON GRAND AVE AND YOU MAY NOT DROP OFF & PICK UP WHILE BLOCKING OUR DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE. THESE ARE DANGEROUS PRACTICES.
In addition, please note that the restriction on parking on Fairview Avenue are enforced by the Piedmont Police.
Thank you so much for your cooperation!
