"Don't let the light go out. It's lasted so many years..." - Peter Yarrow

Dear Kehilla Community Members & Friends,

Consider how Kehilla helps to create light in the world!  In the summer of 2008, seven same-sex couples celebrated their marriage in our sanctuary.  It was a moment of great joy for the couples and our community.  Then Kehilla organized and hosted phone banking for the No on 8 campaign.  Moments of joy and moments of struggle... What unites them both is that Kehilla is the place where it happens -- because we now have a home for our community.  These are just two examples of how our building has made it possible for us to deepen and enhance our tikkun olam work.  From Oakland Community Organizations and the Interfaith Trio meetings to a religious school experience that is deeper and more intimate for our families, our new home on Grand Avenue enables our community to do so much more now, for ourselves and for others.

Kehilla is here for all the members and friends of the community, in these uncertain times more than ever -- and when you think about it that way, Kehilla may be one of the best investments out there right now.  Our home base gives the freedom to provide more support for our members and the broader community than ever before.  There's just one catch -- we need to continue to pay for it.

Every donation helps to secure our building, every donation to the building supports Kehilla's mission and work toward tikkun olam.  Please take a moment now to consider the value of Kehilla, and give the best donation you can.

There are many important causes in our lives, but Kehilla touches all of them.  It is a unique institution: Jewish and progressive, spiritual and political.  Together, we can continue to build our unique community, and light candles of hope.
