Sustaining Kehilla

Kehilla exemplifies Rabbi Hillel's teaching that we must act for ourselves as well as for the world around us, and that we must do so now, in the present. We do this with time, energy, and money. Thus, many of Kehilla's myriad committees and projects are engaged in Tikkun Olam, while others are more inwardly focused, ensuring that the community continues to thrive. For more information on how you can use your time and talents to help sustain the Kehilla community, please contact Sophia at Sophia@KehillaSynagogue.org or (510) 547-2424 ext. 106.

Our culture of giving sustains our community.  Our deep commitment includes securing our community now and for our children, a place that is open to all people.  Recognizing that our synagogue prospers in many ways including making financial support is a priority.  Meeting our financial obligations is essential to a strong and vibrant synagogue.  We offer several ways to provide financial support beyond annual dues including:

The Annual Fund 2011
The annual fund supports the people and programs at Kehilla including holiday programs, staff benefits, adult education and Tikkun Olam projects.  Our goal this year is $75,000.00.

Youth Education Fund
Youth education is at the forefront of programs insuring Kehilla’s future. The Youth Education Fund will enable us to continue to expand our Bar/Bat Mitvot program as well as weekly Hebrew school.  Our goal is $25,000.00.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund
The Rabbi's Discretionary fund goes into a separate account managed directly by Rabbi David and Rabbi Burt.  The monies in the fund are used solely at the discretion of the Rabbi for appropriate purposes consistent with our charitable and tax-exempt status, to assist individual, educational and communal needs as the Rabbi shall deem necessary or appropriate.

Sage Fund
This fund is used to provide for our staff ’s retirement. Our beloved staff provides for the life blood of this organization. This ensures that they will be supported in the years to come.

Terumah Project
Our home base gives the freedom to provide more support for our members and the broader community than ever before.    Terumah contributions cover building costs above and beyond the annual building assessment that members pay.  Our goal:  $100,000.

Legacy Giving
Kehilla recently committed to the Create A Jewish Legacy program with the Jewish Federation of the East Bay.  Please consider leaving Kehilla a bequest, securing our community for future generations.  Contact Sandy Bredt at Sandy@KehillaSynagogue.org or (510) 547-2424 x101 for more information.
