A Healing Vigil for Shavuot Night
View the Schedule of Classes
Shavuot
is the holiday celebrating the receiving of Torah and the harvest.
For
centuries it has been celebrated with study vigils.
Since the Middle Ages (and the arrival of coffee in Europe), the
holiday of
Shavuot has been observed by people staying up all night and studying
together.
For the last 20 years, the synagogues of the East Bay have joined
together
for a full night of fascinating classes and workshops taught by
teachers,
professors, rabbis and activists from every congregation, as well as
local colleges and universities.

In
an East Bay tradition, Shavuot will be
celebrated all night
on Sunday,
June 8-through dawn on June 9:
6:45 - 7:45pm: Joint
Kehilla-Aquarian Minyan-Chochmat HaLev service.
Other services and shmoozing until the 8:45pm Community Gathering
9pm - 5:15am: All-night
series of classes (each about an hour long).
Each class is followed by a break, with food, coffee, tea and juice
served.
(At 11:30pm Rabbi David will teach a workshop on
"Monism: When Creator and Creation Are One."
)
5:15-7:15am: Egalitarian
Morning Service.
